Why am I still awake?

Today was a useless day. I didn’t get much of anything done. It was like I was in this barely awake state all day. I want to be at work in like 9 hours, so that doesn’t give me the necessary time to get the 9 hours of sleep that I need. If only I could work from home everyday.
I just went to the fridge cause I was feeling quite thirsty and I decide to drink some eggnog. Which of course leaves a lovely aftertaste, so I need to get some water anyhow. I wish I had some tasty fruit juices to drink, but alas there is just water, eggnog and beer in the fridge.

Gwen learned the down command tonight. After a lot of trying. It turns out she learns best by watching Roy do things. She learned speak from him without us trying to teach it to her. Tonight we enlisted his help again after she wasn’t getting it on her own. Roy was so much easier to train than her. Roy would like to get a full-time job teaching puppies sit and down because he will get lots and lots of treats.

We’re thinking about going to Oregon for Christmas. Somewhere around Coos Bay most likely. Dave is going to have the last week of the year off, and I can get just about anytime off, so we have lots of time since we’re not driving to Massachusetts again. We’re going to not take the dogs though, only because they are somewhat of a burden and we can’t go out to eat or go do fun non-dog things. Luckily we have a nice place to leave them for a few days for free. Then we can have some “alone” time.

I should really go to bed.

66,666

The Jetta hit 66,666 miles today, somewhere on 101 N near San Mateo.
66,666

This is the second car I’ve had when it hit 66,666 miles. The Celebrity hit 66,666 on 95 N in front of the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA.

Oh, Dave Grohl

What is with Dave Grohl and his gum? He never seems to be without it and he is very open-mouthy so you always see a big wad of gum in there. I’ve noticed this for many years, but only with Foo Fighters really, not with Nirvana, but perhaps that was because he was in the background and not singing so much. This was inspired by the video for DOA being on VH1 currently (omg an actual music video on VH1!) in which he is chewing gum in the video even. I’m not very impressed with this DOA song, it’s alright. I guess that explains why I haven’t enough bought any of their albums since the first one came out in 1995.
On a completely weird note, when I saw the music videos were coming on VH1, for some reason I immediately thought of Foo Fighters and Cold Play. Foo Fighters was the first video and now Cold Play is on. What an odd coincidence. Sometimes I do weird psychic things.

We bought tickets to see Harry Potter tonight but for some reason 1.5 hours before the movie started I ended up sick. That sucked. Maybe we’ll go tomorrow but I got so much crap to do.

Off to sleep.

Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving and I’m here at work, though not doing a lot of work. I have to make up hours since I was gone for a few days cause of the trip to Reno and then crazy school projects/tests. So I’ll be here most of today and tomorrow. It’s kind of lonely cause we’re “closed” today, so there is very few staff here plus I’m always in my office which is nowhere near anyone except for Todd who is using the holiday.
Speaking of Reno, the trip was quite nice. Dave lost a bunch of money, but I won some so it almost evened out. The pugs had a great time. They we really tired everyday just from all the excitement of being around lots of people. Dave and I took a drive and decided to go to this place we had seen a couple times called the Chocolate Nugget, which is a candy store, since we were heading in that direction. We bought some very tasty candy and some not very good candy. Good thing we don’t go to Reno too often or I’d be eating a ton of chocolate.
I had this gap between 2 of my molars that collected a lot of food and turned into a very bad thing that required the tooth on one side to be removed and the tooth on the other side to have a root canal. The removal of the last molar somehow caused my dormant wisdom tooth to come in and replace it, so in an essence, my body replaced the tooth with an extra tooth that was just lying around. Now I have another gap in the same place and its quite the food collector too. I had Special K Vanilla & Almond for breakfast and I just got piece of almond out of there like 2 hours later.

My 4 day holiday weekend is going to consist of work, homework and more work. Maybe we’ll go see the new Harry Potter movie. That would be nice. We’ll probably put up our Christmas LEDs tomorrow. It’s so cool that they are LEDs. We are nerds.

Powerpoint Presentations

So I just spent the last couple of hours making a powerpoint presentation. I have never done one before. I don’t have Powerpoint, so I’m using Open Office’s look-a-like called Impress, which lets me save the thing in Powerpoint format. My presentation is on noninfectious diseases, which are all sorts of fun things.

Yay for direct deposit! Every other Friday, just after 12am, a large sum of money just shows up in my bank account.

I should go to bed now since it is 1am and I want to make it work by like 10ish, so I can do some kind of work before heading out of town for the weekend. I am very excited to get away for a few days as I am starting to get a bit burnt out.

Lazy Apartment Managers

The apartment complex I live in is on the large size, but it only takes about 8 minutes to walk around the perimeter at an average walking pace. One of the apartment managers/leasing agents lives downstairs from me (in a 1 bedroom apartment with a family of four, but that’s another story for another day), but when she goes to leasing office for work, she drives. It’s probably a 4 minute walk at most. She does it every day.

I made up a test yesterday from when I had the flu. The last question on the test was obviously something I missed when I was absent, because I had no idea what it was. So I just skipped it. I was writing out the answers on a blank paper, so I just wrote nothing. I stopped at #4, didn’t write #5 and leave it blank. I just wrote nothing at all, like the question didn’t even exist. Well the teacher didn’t grade the question as wrong because it wasn’t there. So she just ended up giving me the points out of 4/5 of the questions. Not bad. I must remember this in the future, even though it is somewhat tricky, I don’t think it can be considered cheating cause she made a mistake grading my paper. I ended up getting an A on it whereas I probably would have gotten a B if she had counted the last question. Rock.

Tomorrow we are going to Reno because we are celebrating Thanksgiving a bit early. Dave’s brother and his wife are coming up too, so it’ll be nice. We’re eating at his grandmother’s house this year, which is brand new and very, very nice and it has a fenced in yard so Roy and Gwen can hang out outside without a worry. I guess that means we’ll also be going to a Casino or two. I only really play video poker. I’m not into table games or slots. Though, sometimes those crazy slot machines that have like 9 lines of possible combinations that you couldn’t possibly remember, you can end up winning a lot. Last time we were in Reno, I played a Stars Wars one. I put in $20 and did the max bet and ended up winning $20 more on the first spin. I immediately cashed out because I am not much of a gambler.

This afternoon when I was taking Roy out to go the bathroom, Gwen snuck by and ran out the door and down the stairs and then turned around and looked up at me. So I grabbed a bag of treats and rattled it around. Back up the stairs she came running. Pugs are such suckers for food.

We belong to a Chocolate of the Month club. So sometime each month some kind of fancy chocolate shows up at our door. Well, this months chocolate is fucking awesome. It’s from Belgium, so its gotta be awesome. I tried two pieces this morning and yuuummmm. I guess I sort of consider myself a chocolate connoisseur. I won’t eat Hersheys or other cheap chocolate anymore. About the lowest I will go is Cadbury’s Dairy Milk.

Eggnog Flavoured Yogurt

We were grocery shopping last night and I came across eggnog flavoured and pumpkin flavoured yogurt. I just tried the eggog flavoured one.

 Yuck.

I will still try the pumpkin pie one though, because it might be decent. I guess those folks in New Jersey haven’t perfected fake eggnog flavouring.

Nothing Interesting To Say

So, I often drive by this extended-stay hotel type place that is being renovated. The most obvious thing they are doing is moving the entrances to each “apartment” to the opposite side of the building. This seems crazy to me, but I’m not an architect or interior desginer or other person who might understand. It makes we wonder at what point would it be better to just tear the whole thing down and rebuild it how you’d like it.

Ah, toilet paper. I, like most people, have used lots and lots different brands and types of toilet paper during my life. Of course, I didn’t ever prefer a certain brand/type, I just bought whatever was on sale. Until recently. We had been using Angel Soft for a while, then we bought Cottonelle with Ripples, a brand we were using a lot before the Angel Soft. What an amazing difference between the two. I guess I had my preferred brand of TP now.

Beethoven

I’m doing a report on Beethoven. This is the second time in 2 years I’m doing a report on him. The first time was for public speaking class, where I had to pick a person I admire. Out of all the people I could have picked, I chose him for some reason. This time it’s for my deaf class where we were given a list of people to chose from and he was the most interesting on the list. Yes, if you didn’t know, Beethoven became deaf later in life and still composed music even though he couldn’t hear it. That’s pretty fucking awesome.

I’m sick. I have a cold. My ears are also killing me, so I must have an ear infection or something. I’ve also hurt my back and I need to go to physical therapy. What a ton of fun.

Maybe I’ll go watch some TV. The DVR recorded many shows for me tonight.
